Sectional Anatomy - Head and Neck

You are well aware of how important knowledge of human anatomy is for effective work with patients. We invite you to our intensive two-day training on the anatomy of the head and neck, which will help you broaden your knowledge and skills in this area. The training has been developed and will be conducted by a qualified team of specialists in anatomy and medicine. Our training lasts two days, allowing for in-depth immersion in the anatomy of the head and neck. Over these two intensive days, you will have the opportunity to delve into many aspects of this fascinating field of medicine.

The classes will focus on practical learning. You will not only gain theoretical knowledge but also have the opportunity to work practically on preserved and unpreserved human specimens, known as cadavers. This will allow you to gain invaluable practical experience that will be useful in your professional work.

Training location: Poznań LAB

Dates: 4-5.11.2024 (1st term), 9-10.12.2024 (2nd term)
Number of participants: 24. Work in groups of 8 people.
For whom: physiotherapists, osteopaths, students of osteopathic schools, doctors, other medical professions

Students and Graduates of the Osteopathy Academy have priority in applications.

Cost: 810 Euro

Reservation condition: a deposit of 300 Euro. The deposit is non-refundable in case of cancellation.

Day 1

Part I

- Topographic regions of the head and neck
- General structure and division of skull bones, connections of skull bones, skull fossae
- Cervical spine section
- Hyoid bone
- Neck muscles: superficial, middle, and deep
- Triangles of the neck: boundaries and contents

Part II

- Fascia and fascial spaces of the neck
- Throat: wall structure, division into nasal, oral, and laryngeal parts, connections with the oral cavity, nasal cavity, and laryngeal part of the throat
- Retropharyngeal space: boundaries and contents
- Larynx: organ structure, laryngeal skeleton and muscles, laryngeal suspensory apparatus
- Thyroid gland: structure, location, and sources of blood supply
- Head muscles: facial muscles and masticatory muscles with innervation

Day 2

Part I

- Arteries of the head and neck: common carotid artery and its division into internal and external carotid arteries
- Anterior, posterior, medial, and terminal branches
- Veins of the head and neck: superficial and deep systems, anastomoses
- Cranial nerves: types of nerve fibers, their sources, exit points at the base of the brain, and exit points from the skull, topography
- Organ of vision, visual pathway
- Organ of hearing and equilibrium, nerve pathways

Part II

- Structure of the brain: structures visible on the convex, medial, and basal surfaces
- Telencephalon: cerebral hemispheres and basal nuclei
- Diencephalon: thalamus, hypothalamus (including infundibulum and pituitary gland), epithalamus, metathalamus, and subthalamus
- Mesencephalon: cerebral peduncles, interpeduncular fossa, corpora quadrigemina
- Pons
- Medulla oblongata: pyramids, olives, sulci
- Cerebellum: hemispheres, vermis and flocculus, tonsils and cerebellar peduncles
- Concept of brainstem
- Spinal cord: surfaces, sulci, cross-section
- Spinal nerves: roots and branches
- Brain circulation: circle of Willis - inflows, branches, anastomoses
- Spinal cord circulation: vertebral arteries and venous plexuses
- Venous sinuses of the dura mater: inflows and outflow sites
- System of brain ventricles
- Subarachnoid space
- Circulation of cerebrospinal fluid

Curriculum

The Academy's educational programme is based on the standards used in the greatest osteopathic schools in the world and covers over 2,000 teaching hours within 44 seminars during the 4.5-year teaching cycle.

After completing the 4.5-year curriculum, you get the opportunity to write a diploma thesis and become a certified osteopath with the degree as a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
